Melbourne Heart captain Fred scored his maiden goal for theA-League club to spark their first win of the season and extend theNewcastle Jets' horror away record.
Fred, in his first season with the Heart, and youngsters MateDugandzic and Aziz Behich - all former Melbourne Victory players -scored the goals in the space of 19 minutes in the second half of awell-deserved 3-0 win at AAMI Park tonight.
Newcastle, which started the round in second place on the backof three home victories, have now lost all three of their matcheson the road.
The Heart had posted three consecutive draws before Saturdaynight's win, which lifted them off the bottom of the table.
The home side controlled the game throughout.
They dominated in general play in the first half, but letthemselves down with their finishing, despite having numerouschances.
But from the start of the second half, the Heart looked likelyto score.
Jason Hoffman, who had failed to capitalise on some goodfirst-half chances, forced a fine Ben Kennedy save seven minutesinto the half.
Dugandzic forced an even better save five minutes later, when abeautiful right-footer threatened to curl just inside the rightpost, only for an acrobatic Kennedy to tip it wide.
But Fred's class finally found a way through in the 66thminute.
The Brazilian made a strong run into the box, passed tosubstitute Eli Babalj, who held off two defenders to put it back infront of Fred, who blasted it home.
Dugandzic ensured victory just five minutes later, with astraightforward finish, after a woefully off-target Tarek Elrichback pass gave him the ball one-out with the keeper.
Behich capped the win with a clever, curling right-footer in the85th minute, the Heart's relief in sealing their season's firstvictory evident in the 20-year-old's celebration, the extent ofwhich earned him a booking.
