Dolce & Gabbana’s hope chest-inspired Spring 2011 collection goes down as one of my favorites from the house, ever. The almost entirely white lineup of lace and eyelet dresses was so resonant for me, in fact, that I still picture a number of looks off that runway on the rare occasion that I imagine myself walking down the aisle. The collection is also memorable because it spawned Pat McGrath’s Lip Jewel compact for Dolce & Gabbana The Makeup. Comprising a quartet of four creamy pout enhancers that the makeup artist used backstage at the show, the faceted palette was almost as covetable as the glossy formulas themselves when it launched for the holidays last year—which is presumably why Dolce & Gabbana has brought it back for 2011. Its new, limited-edition Ruby Collection expands upon the jeweled box concept to include a Luminous Cheek Color and a smoky Eyeshadow Quad, which are both now available within the confines of the original red and gold case. As a bonus, five of the brand’s best-selling crimson lipsticks—Ultra, Ruby, Devil, Iconic, and Scarlett—have also been given the precious stone treatment with a new golden bullet that’s topped with a red gem. The keepsakes are great for all of life’s big events, weddings (and holiday parties) among them.
