Lionsgate is looking to 127 Hours writer Simon Beaufoy to write The Hunger Games sequel, Catching Fire. The Slumdog Millionaire scribe hasn't entered into negotiations just yet, but after a successful first run the studio is trying to keep things moving at a brisk pace and already have Gary Ross locked down to direct once more. The Pleasantville director was going to outline the script for the second installment of the three-book series about the life and death adventures of Katniss Everdeen (with co-writer Suzanne Collins, who worked on the first movie), but the post-production schedule put a wrench in things. At any rate, here's the trailer for the new film, which hits theaters on March 23, 2012.

Feeling confident about Zack Snyder's upcoming Superman reboot, Man of Steel, the studio has already ordered a script for the sequel before the film has hit theaters. Snyder's superhero flick is set to appear on screens June 14, 2013 — but Warner Bros. is supposedly making moves on a few writers for part two, including Clash of the Titan's Travis Beachman and The Empire Strikes Back's Lawrence Kasdan. Harry Potter writer Steve Kloves is a top pick, however — and with the popular fantasy series at an end he may be looking to fill his dance card. All this is based on a recently reported rumor, however, but if there's any truth to the reboot rumblings it's a +1 for Snyder and his team.
