Michael Lohan has been sentenced to two years probation.
The 51-year-old showbiz patriarch - who is the father oftroubled actress Lindsay Lohan - entered a plea of no contest tofour domestic violence charges in a Tampa, Florida court today butescaped a possible four-year jail sentence.
His lawyer Michael Perry said: "He will not serve any jailtime."
In addition to probation, Lohan - who was arrested following analtercation with former fiancee Kate Major on October 25 - willspend four months working at the Teen Challenge Internationalprogramme and must undertake domestic violence classes and hislawyer hopes he will "benefit" from the sentence.
Perry said: "I believe he was pleased with the result, he shouldbe. It was a good result and it will benefit him."
Major - whose birthday is today - was in court but did not speakto Michael.
The lawyer added: "She told the court that she agreed to thesentence."
Prior to attending the hearing, Major tweeted she was hoping itwould mark a "fresh start" for her.
She wrote: "It's the big B-day! Doesnt feel like it spending itin court with my ex...glad this will be a new fresh start!(sic)"
Lindsay Lohan was recently sentenced to 30 days behind bars butwas released after only four-and-a-half hours due toover-crowding.
